Leisure & Sports
INTRO
Reliable energy systems for high-use, public-facing buildings

Leisure centres and sports facilities place heavy demands on energy and mechanical systems. Long opening hours, high hot water usage, pool environments and variable occupancy all place pressure on heating, ventilation, electrical and energy infrastructure.

We work with leisure operators, local authorities and trusts to deliver reliable, efficient and compliant energy and M&E solutions, designed specifically for high-use leisure environments.

PROBLEMS
Understanding the challenges in leisure facilities
Energy systems in leisure buildings must support:
  • Continuous heating and hot water demand

  • Swimming pools and wet-side environments

  • Large, open spaces with variable occupancy

  • Tight budgets and public sector scrutiny

  • Limited opportunities for shutdown or downtime

When systems fail, the impact is immediate — lost revenue, unhappy users and reputational damage.
TURNKEY DELIVERY
Our approach to leisure sector projects

We understand that leisure facilities need to stay open. Our delivery approach focuses on:

Careful planning and phasing of works

Minimising disruption to members and staff

Designing robust systems that cope with peak demand

Ensuring compliance with health, safety and water hygiene standards

We work closely with facilities and estates teams to align works with operational requirements.

EXPERIENCE
Typical solutions for leisure and sports facilities

Our leisure sector projects often include:

01

CHP systems to support continuous heat demand

02

Boiler and plant room upgrades

03

Heat pumps where building fabric allows

04
Solar PV installations to offset electrical demand
05

HVAC and ventilation systems for comfort and air quality

Solutions are always tailored to the building and its usage.

CASE STUDIES
Proven experience in leisure environments
Grantham Leisure Centre
Delivering a reliable energy solution for a high-use facility
The Challenge
Working with main contractor Leisure Energy, we were engaged to provide the M&E install to replace the aging gas heating system with their Net Zero Pod solution. The Leisure Centre was fully operational throughout the works, meaning we had to maintain heat to the system to ensure pool and air temperatures were comfortable the users.
Our Solution
A fully-coordinated switchover meant their heating systems were offline for a matter of hours, temperatures remained and the leisure provider was happy.
The Outcome
Net zero heating, with an efficient system providing heating and hot water to the leisure centre.
